THE DRIFT WORLD PREMIERE SCREENING – 6TH DECEMBER 2014
September 26, 2014
THE DRIFT is to receive its World Premiere on Saturday 6th December 2014 at the University of Lincoln.
Producer and director, Darren Scales says the location is the perfect choice for the special event. “As well as volunteers from the Lincolnshire community, many of the crew were students and post-graduates from the University who wanted to add something special to their CV. I can’t think of a better location to showcase their work and say thank you for their contribution.”
Cast, Crew and invited guests will receive the red carpet treatment as they step into the world of Hollywood complete with black tie, eager to see their science fiction spectacular on the big screen.
THE DRIFT was produced as a community project to bring together filmmakers and Sci-Fi enthusiasts to make an original space adventure.
The Premiere concludes more than three years of work to make the film. “It has been a hard slog” says Darren. “We didn’t have the resources or budget that the major production companies enjoy. I think that is why I am so pleased about having the Premiere because despite those odds, my crew’s hard work has paid off. Now we have a completely original feature length Science fiction Space movie we can all be proud of!”
After the Premiere, it is hoped that the film will go on to be released Online and DVD to raise money for charity.
Admittance to the Premiere is by invitation only. Anyone wishing to attend the event should email us direct mail@bypuk.com.

One year of Drift Diaries
September 12, 2012
The Drift Diary for 26 August 2012 marks the one-year anniversary of the very first Drift Diary!
Darren’s been talking for about The Drift a whole lot, and the latest diary includes an inset showing all 21 hours of Daz chatting compressed to 8 minutes.
Top Tips from the Drift Diaries!
With over 100 Drift Diaries covering the production, Daz has shortlisted the ones any budding Backyard Producers might find useful for when making their own movies…. Enjoy the laughter and tears (mostly tears) as Daz tells you like it is!
2nd edit of The Drift is complete
August 4, 2012
Post production continues to progress at a good pace. The second edit has been completed, which means the scripted story is put in place, and it’s time to get more creative with the next edit. Daz and Sue are discussing the story, and how the mood, characters and plot should develop, based on the material we captured. Daz will be getting input from other editors to get ideas of ways to chop it up, to achieve that pacing.
Daz has also edited in some temp-tracks for the score, using existing material. We have a few guys producing bits of score based on that direction.
The VFX gang is moving forward well. The virtual Deliverance is mostly built; next it will be textured (i.e. ‘painted’), and rigged (given moving parts).
They have also been building dozens of other ships to form the drift of derelict ships.
So! Lots is happening, and lots still to do.
